Tazewell Speedway will play host to the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals finale for the 20th year in a row on Saturday, July 29. The Ray Varner 53 will pay $20,053 to the winner and one driver will win the series championship.
The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals has a tight battle going for the championship between Donald McIntosh and Cory Hedgecock. The championship could come down to the final lap at Tazewell Speedway. Gavin Cowan, Benji Hicks, and Haiden Cowan are some of the series regulars expected. Other drivers such as Dale McDowell, Ricky Weiss, Dakotah Knuckles, Stacy Boles, Austin Neely, Jason Trammell, and many others are also expected
Also racing on July 27 will be sportsman for $100 to win, classic cars for $600 to win, street stocks for $600 to win.
General admission tickets are $30 for adults with kids 9 and under admitted free with a paying adult. Pit passes are $45 for adults, kids 12 and under are $35. Pit gates open at 4:00 and grandstand gates open at 5:00. The drivers meeting is scheduled for 7:00, Racing will start at 7:45.
Fans are welcome to bring in lawn chairs for the turn 4 hillside seating areas. Fans are asked not to use lawn chairs in the grandstand area due to the size of the crowd expected for this event.
There will be no personal ATV vehicles allowed in the pit area which includes 4-wheelers, side-by-sides, and golf carts. No personal vehicles allowed in the pits except for those going to handicap parking, which is limited and on a first-come basis. Limited camping spots are available on a first-come basis for $20 a night.
