Tazewell Speedway returns to racing action on Saturday, April 16 for the 2nd annual Lil Bill Corum Memorial presented by Toyota Knoxville. The winner will drive away with $21,000. There is also a $2,100 bonus for pre-entered drivers who sets fast time during time trials.
The 75-lap affair is a co-sanctioned event between the Valvoline Iron Man Late Models and the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals.
Jimmy Owens, Jonathan Davenport, Scott Bloomquist, and Brandon Overton as some of the national drivers already pre-entered for this event. Jason Trammell, Jensen Ford, Pierce McCarter, and Ryan King are some of the area’s drivers expected for this event.
Lil Bill Corum was one of the most successful racers in East Tennessee in a career that spanned from the late 1950’s through the 1980’s. He is a member of three different halls of fame and won over 300 features during his career.
Also racing will be sportsman late models for $1,021 to win, classic cars for $521 to win, and street stocks for $521 to win.
Pit gates open at 2:00, grandstand gates open at 4:00. The drivers meeting is scheduled for 6:00. Hot laps and time trials will begin at 6:30.
Grandstand tickets are $30 for adults, kids 9 and under are free. Pit passes are $45, kids 12 and under are $35 with a signed minor’s release.
Limited camping spots available first come first serve in main parking lot. $20 nightly. Pay this at main gate on race day to get your camper credentials.
Fans are welcome to bring in lawn chairs for the turn 4 hillside seating areas. Fans are asked not to use lawn chairs in the grandstand area due to the size of the crowd expected for this event.
No personal vehicles or side-by-sides allowed inside the pit area. A limited number handicap spots are available for fans in upper pit area. First come, first serve.
Drivers bringing a souvenir trailer need to bring a copy of Certificate of Liability Insurance $1,000,000. It is a requirement from the track’s Insurance Company. Trailers must be in main parking lot before 4p.m. Only the drivers racing will be permitted to set up souvenir trailers. No other merchandise trailers allowed.
