

Tazewell Speedway hosts the richest paying event in the history of the speedway on Saturday, April 3 with the inaugural Lil Bill Corum Memorial. The $21,000 to win race is presented by Toyota of Knoxville, one of Tazewell Speedway’s longest tenured sponsors. The 75-lap affair is a co-sanctioned event between the Valvoline Iron Man Late Models and the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals.
Jimmy Owens, Jonathan Davenport, Shane Clanton, and Brandon Overton as some of the national drivers already pre-entered for this event. Jason Trammell, Donald McIntosh, Vic Hill, and Ryan King are some of the area’s drivers expected for this event.
Previously pre-entered drivers are eligible for a $2,100 bonus for the fastest qualifier. Jimmy “Pup” Thomas of Hoosier Tire South will be giving away a free tire to any driver that can break the track record of 10.822 seconds and a tire to the driver that finishes in 21st place.
Lil Bill Corum was one of the most successful racers in East Tennessee in a career that spanned from the late 1950’s through the 1980’s. He is a member of three different halls of fame and won over 300 features during his career.
Also racing will be sportsman late models for $1,000 to win, classic cars for $600 to win, and street stocks for $500 to win.
Pit gates open at 1:00, grandstand gates open at 4:00. The drivers meeting is scheduled for 5:00. Hot laps and time trials will begin at 6:00. Four wheels are allowed with a race car in the pits. Side-by-sides and personal vehicles will not be allowed in the pit area.
Grandstand tickets are $30 for adults, kids 9 and under are free. Pit passes are $45, kids 12 and under are $35 with a signed minor’s release. Camping spots, with electric, are $30, pay at the main gate. Those are first come, first serve. The handicap section is also first come, first serve.
Fans are welcome to bring in lawn chairs for the turn 4 hillside seating areas. Fans are asked not to use lawn chairs in the grandstand area due to the size of the crowd expected for this event.
The Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department will be patrolling all parking lots throughout the night.

Going north on US 25-E, turn right and then left onto Bacchus Rd, and then 1.8 miles north, then .8 miles west and the race track is located on the left.
