Tazewell Speedway will resume action during the 50th Anniversary season with the running of the Inaugural Tri-State Challenge for the American Dirt Allstars Series presented by AR Bodies. The American Dirt Allstars/KDRA Super Stocks will race for $1,000-to-win and $100-to-start. In addition to the special KDRA-sanctioned event, the Tazewell Limited Late Models will race for $1,550-to-win.
Also on the racing card for the June 6th special event at Tazewell Speedway will be the Sportsman, Classic Cars and Four Cylinders. This will also be Dollar Dawg night at the concession stand.
The Pit & Grandstand Gates will open at 5:00 pm Saturday. The driver’s meeting is slated for 7:15 pm. Hot Laps will roll out around 7:45 pm. Grandstand Admission is only $12.00 (Children the age of 9 and younger are admitted free with a paying adult) while Pit Admission is $30.00 and $15.00 for children 12 and under.
This will be the third points race of the AR Bodies American Dirt Allstars Series. The first event was held on April 18th at Richmond (Ky.) Raceway and Russ Gabbert of Berea, Ky. came home victorious and bested a field of 29 entries. On May 2st, Jamey Adams of Laurelville, Ohio claimed the second series points race at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. besting a field of 30 entries to claim the $1,000 top prize.
Russ Gabbert of Berea, Ky. currently leads the series points coming into Tazewell June 6th by just one marker over Eddie Stewart of Manchester, Ky. Third in the series points is Glen Hounshell Jr. of Berea, Ky., fourth if Daniel Howard of Berea, Ky. while Jamey Adams of Laurelville, Ohio and Derek Bottoms of Taylorsville, Ky. Rounding out the top-ten in series points are Chad Barrett of Berea, Ky., Trae Soper of Nicholasville, Ky., Bartley Grant of Berea, Ky. and Johnny King of Lancaster, Ky.
There will be a full show of Practice, Time Trials, Heat Races, Last Chance races and the 25-lap main event for the KDRA/American Dirt Allstars Series this Saturday at Tazewell Speedway. The Fast Qualifier will receive $100 courtesy of Rainmaker Race Cars. There will also be a $100 Hard Charger Award for one driver in the feature event. Additional monies have been put in the purse and for various other special awards. Those supporters include: Southern Outdoors, Gutters Plus, Tires Etc., A1 Tint & Graphics, Little Caesars Pizza of New Tazewell and Andrews Construction.
A reminder to KDRA Super Stock teams, the tire rule for this Saturday’s Tri-State Challenge will be as follows: Hoosier A40 & H40 along with the American Racer Hard & Extra Hard.
May 29 winners at Tazewell Speedway included: Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga. who took home the $10,000 prize during the Toyota Knoxville 50 sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series; Anthony Burchett in the Sportsman main event, Kurt Owens in the Four Cylinder feature, Phillip Thompson in the Classic feature race and Eddie Stewart in the KDRA Super Stock feature.
