Tazewell Speedway owner Gary Hall recently joined an alliance with fellow track owners of 411 Motor Speedway, Smoky Mountain Speedway, and Volunteer Speedway. Their first official act is to band together and suspend all racing operations for 30 days due to the COVID-19 virus. The CDC and other health officials have been asking all organizations, movie theaters, and other events that gather large amounts of people to not hold events or activities that draw these large amounts of people. All major sporting events around the country have suspended operations or cancelled events. In an effort to comply with the request, the local racetracks, including Tazewell Speedway, have agreed to suspend racing for 30 days. This includes the season opening UCRA race schedules for March 28. The Bill Corum Memorial race scheduled for Saturday, April 11 is still on as scheduled. Hall has said he will re-evaluate the conditions on April 1 to determine if the race will go on as scheduled. Please check back for updates to find out when racing will resume.
