World of Outlaws Promoters & Track Operators,
At this point, all of you are certainly aware that we lost one of our sport’s really good guys this weekend. More information is available at worldofoutlaws.com, but Series regular Jason Johnson was involved in an accident battling for the lead Saturday night and succumbed to his injuries early Sunday morning. For those of you who had the chance to meet or work with Jason, you know that few worked harder, few gave more of themselves and that few loved the sport of Sprint Car racing more than Jason.
Jason’s passing marks the first driver fatality during a World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event since 1999 and only the 4th since the Series inception in 1978, spanning 3,262 feature events.
While there will be time to reflect and discuss as a group, we have included a link to a tribute video below and ask that you please post on your track websites as well as through your social outlets and e-mail lists. The video includes information at the end on how the racing community can support Jason’s family as he is survived by his wife Bobbi and their 5-year old son Jaxx. A link to the official/verified fundraiser is included in the video and listed below.
We also ask that each of you consider making a donation.
Thank you for your continued support.
